Antioxidants

Antioxidants are chemical substances or physical agents that slow down or prevent oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent, so you produce free radicals responsible for a chain reaction that damages the cells.

Antioxidants put an end to oxidations, intervening on free radicals and oxidizing themselves, and that’s why they are chemically definited “reducing agents”. They are therefore able to neutralize free radicals and protect the body from their negative action.

Xantones are part of the family of antioxidants. Xantones are biologically active compounds, related to the family of poliphenols (powerful antioxidants) that possess multiple pharmacological properties, infact, they are renowned for their high antioxidant, antiseptic and inflammatory power.

There are 200 Xanthones identified in nature, the Mangosteen contains 43 different types, including the most effective studied to date.

Different types of plants and herbs naturally contain some Xantones, none of these, however, is comparable to the amount and effectiveness of Mangosteen, which is the richest fruit in active Xantones so far known.
